Careers education at Gordano School is delivered in a number of ways and the information below will give you an insight into the careers support available in school.
Our careers advisers and progress mentors work with each student to make sure that strong pathways have been established and those leaving school continue to be tracked and given access to the best possible advice. Our work to prepare our young people for success in the future is supported by our Business Partnership.
More than 100 local and national employers work with us to provide work shadowing,
practice interviews and information about their businesses to our students.
As part of our commitment to informing our students of the full range of learning and training pathways on offer to them, we are happy to consider requests from training, apprenticeship and vocational education providers to speak to students.

A comprehensive and evolving programme of careers education, independent information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) takes place from Year 7 to Year 13.
An opportunity for Year 10 pupils to gain experience of the workplace. Assists with social development, occupational awareness and provides evidence of transferable skills for future CVs, personal statements and interviews.
We are proud to have a very large range of options available so that each student can follow a set of courses that are best suited to them. We are committed to ensuring that students enjoy their experience of learning in Years 10 and 11.
We hold a Mock Interview Day for all Year 10 students. Students will write a covering letter and CV, experience a formal interview and receive employer feedback.
Industry experts and school Alumni are invited to chat informally with students about their job or profession. Topics have included science, creative industries and engineering.
Employer engagement is a key aspect of our Business Partnership and can include: mentoring activities, work experience, guest speakers, links to alumni, careers fairs and networking events.
